Three local home building facilities raise money for Patient Assistance Fund
MORRISTOWN, Tenn., March 20, 2024 — Three East Tennessee Clayton Home Building Group® home building facilities presented Morristown Regional Cancer Center with a check for $30,865.50 for their Patient Assistance Fund. The fund helps cancer patients and their families cover costs like medication, transportation, utility bills and other needs associated with treatment.
Clayton, a values-based single-family home builder, empowers and encourages team members to Do good by serving the communities in which they live and work. Since 2017, Clayton’s East Tennessee facilities, along with the Clayton Foundation, have donated more than $250,000 for the cancer center’s Patient Assistance Fund.
The Patient Assistance Fund has personally benefited several Clayton team members. Clayton Rutledge Customer Care Coordinator Teresa Ridgeway says, “A close family member of mine was battling lymphoma. The Patient Assistance Fund covered a month of their utility bills and gave them gas cards to help with travel expenses. The support was appreciated during a time of need when they were going through so much physically, mentally and financially.”
To raise money, Clayton Bean Station, Clayton Rutledge and TRU White Pine team members collected donations, sold merchandise and hosted fundraisers like cookouts and bake sales, a nacho lunch, chili cookoff contests and auctions. Team members also participated in the cancer center’s Jingle Run for Hope, the annual 5K held to raise money for the Patient Assistance Fund. Leadership at the three facilities and the Clayton Foundation contributed additional funds for a grand total of $30,865.50.
“Clayton is a shining example of what a great partnership looks like,” said R. Michael Fishman, chair of the Morristown-Hamblen Hospital Foundation board of directors and publisher of the Morristown Citizen Tribune. "They don’t just write a check; they are actively involved in their communities. We are grateful for their continued support of Morristown Regional Cancer Center.”
