Clayton® Donates 18th Home in National Partnership with Family Promise

New transitional home will help Family Promise of Greater Chattanooga support local families working towards stable housing

November 22, 2024

CHATTANOOGA, TN, November 22, 2024 – Clayton, a leading national builder of single-family attainable housing, is announcing the donation of a new home to Family Promise of Greater Chattanooga, as part of its broader partnership with Family Promise, Inc., a national nonprofit aimed at preventing family homelessness. This modern manufactured home will be used as transitional housing to provide stability for families who are leaving shelters and taking steps to secure permanent housing.

“Transitional housing is so important when we’re supporting families who are receiving additional case management while overcoming homelessness,” said E'tienne Easley, Executive Director at Family Promise of Greater Chattanooga. “Through our partnership with Clayton, we’re able to focus on innovative, localized efforts that will help those who are at risk in our community.”

In 2019, Clayton and Family Promise established a partnership program to address underlying causes of family homelessness, called A Future Begins at Home. Clayton supports the nonprofit through home donations and grants to local Family Promise affiliates for case management, rental assistance, landlord mediation, transportation, childcare support and other key resources.

To date, A Future Begins at Home has catalyzed more than $12M in funding from other investors, preventing more than 28,000 families from experiencing homelessness.

The donated home is the Rhythm Nation model from Clayton’s Tempo series and has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 990 sq. ft. of space. In addition, it features an open living area, all-drywall interior and Craftsman-style exterior details to create a warm and welcoming space for families.

It’s also an eBuilt® home, which means it’s built to meet the U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home™ Manufactured Home National Program Requirements and is designed to significantly reduce annual energy costs1. To do so, Clayton’s eBuilt homes include energy-efficient features like a Rheem® hybrid heat pump water heater, ENERGY STAR® certified appliances, an ecobee Smart Thermostat® and additional insulation.

The home was built at Clayton’s Bean Station home building facility in East Tennessee, and the home setup was completed by Clayton Homes of East Ridge, TN.

“It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to work with organizations like Family Promise,” said Rick Williams, General Manager at Clayton Homes of East Ridge. “We know this home is going to make a real difference for the families of Chattanooga for years to come.”

This is the 18th home Clayton has donated to Family Promise since the partnership began in 2019 and the second to a Tennessee Family Promise affiliate.
