The best solutions to problems we face come from our team members. Clayton has foundational values in place that help us seek better business solutions at our facilities and home centers. Our team members lead the charge by innovating creative solutions to local and societal problems.

An example is that our home building facility in Lynn, Alabama (TRU Lynn) has developed and been successful with their new wood recycling program. Elizabeth Tucker, Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, helped launch the recycling program in 2020 and it has continued strong into 2021. The goal of the program is to collect all wood without nails and donate the scraps to a third party who processes the wood at a papermill. To date, they have recycled over 51,000 pounds of wood and diverted over 26 tons from the local landfill.

The whole facility is participating in the program by making sure the wood goes into the correct bins so it can be recycled properly. Elizabeth and the team at TRU Lynn are now looking for other opportunities to be more sustainable and elevate the team member experience.
