Customizing a Clayton Built® Home

When you choose to buy a Clayton home, you aren’t just picking your floor plan, standard features and potential upgrades. You’re also able personalize your new space by choosing options for the cabinets and flooring, built-in features and storage, bathroom and kitchen finishes, and more.

In addition to those options, certain home models also give you the ability to choose from several different floor plan configurations. Changing the floor plan, such as adding a flex space, choosing a specific primary bathroom layout or adding an extra bedroom, is an example of how the Clayton team wants to help you build a home that suits your lifestyle.

How Do You Know if a Home Model is Customizable?

Our Clayton home center consultants will be glad to discuss what features you’re looking for to help find the right home model for you and your family. They can show you features and customization options for the floor plans that are available at that location. Your home consultant can also help identify which floor plans have customization options so you can incorporate your personal style.

If you aren’t ready to visit a home center yet, you can look online for homes that are available in your area using our Find a Home page. There, you can search for homes that have specific features on your must-have list, like an open floor plan or kitchen island. When you click on a specific home, the home details page will list what features are available in that model. You also have the option to download a brochure and take a 3D tour of the home.

How Much Does it Cost to Customize a Clayton Home?

If you’re interested in adding specific features to your home, your home consultant can discuss pricing with you. They will show you the standard price of the home model you choose plus the potential costs of any customization or upgrade options you are considering. Some options don’t have extra charges, such as changing cabinet styles, paint colors and flooring patterns.
